One of our favorite things to do at Disney is eat. In fact many a trip has been planned around what we are going to eat on any particular day.
We love to repeat old favorites and of course, try new things. To avoid blowing our budget (and allowing us to eat more!) we always try to look for things that are under the $5 mark We have put together a simple list of the best Magic Kingdom snacks that will help you expand your waistline, without shrinking your wallet.
1) Dole Whip (located at Aloha Isle in Adventureland) $4.19
No trip to Disney is complete without at LEAST one round of Dole Whip. For a variation, try the citrus swirl ($3.79) located at the Sunshine Tree Terrace just a short walk away. Dole Whips tend to be quite large but you will probably want one all to yourself. You can also grab the self-serve version of this delicious treat at Captain Cooks, which is located at the Polynesian Resort (easily accessed from the monorail). This reminds us of one of the frozen yogurt chains – you’ll pay the cashier and receive a cup that you are able to fill as high as you dare! If you need a second fix after grabbing Dole Whip from Aloha Aisle, head over to Captain Cooks and bring your appetite!
2) Cheeseburger egg rolls (located at the Egg Roll Cart in Adventureland) $4.50 for two
Sounds sketchy, tastes amazing! Throw in a veggie egg roll for $2.75 and you’ve got a pretty filling meal. We at Running on Disney have been known to stash some of these in our bag for later as we think they taste just as amazing cold as they do hot from the wagon.
3) Roasted corn (located at Liberty Square Market in Liberty Square) $4.29
Available plain or jazz it up by adding a seasoning flavor such as BBQ or Jamaican jerk. Eating vegetables at Disney sounds so boring that this one is easily over looked but give it a try – you may be surprised! It goes nicely with another ear of corn with a different seasoning.
4) Churros – (located at the Frontierland Churro Stand (in Frontierland)) – $4.00
Another must have Disney treat. These are like a baton shaped donut coated with cinnamon and sugar. You’ll find yourself desperately craving one when you return home and counting the days until you go back to Disney and can have another. We consider this treat to be one of the iconic snacks at the Disney Parks and you should try it at least once.
5) Mickey pretzel (located at the Frontierland Churro Stand (in Frontierland)) – $5.00
Everything tastes better when it is shaped like our favorite mouse! Disney pretzels are asome of the best pretzels around. We usually like add a cup of dipping cheese for $1.00 because we love all cheese, even the fake plastic melted kind. Of course fake plastic melted cheese always tastes remarkably better when you are dipping into it while watching a parade or some fireworks!
