I love the hustle and bustle at the EPCOT park – and I love how easily I can USUALLY find a place all to myself to relax!
Be sure to check out the World Showcase for some quiet time. With so many countries to pick from, you are bound to find a place to chill and get out off the masses for a bit. Keep your eyes open, some of the best places are a bit off the beaten path.
I almost always park my hubby outside The Toy Soldier near the hedge maze with a beer and do my shopping. He finds it to be a quiet enough place to doze and I don’t have anyone encouraging me to hurry up – a win for both of us!
The American Adventure
The American Adventure audio-animatronic show lasts half an hour! This possibly makes it number one for my pick of places to nap in the parks. Not to knock it as boring, as it is a beautiful show and should also be experienced awake but it’s length alone makes it worth sleeping through. Be sure you pick a seat as close to the back corners as you can, they tend to stay darker throughout the show. I also don my sunglasses to further block out light.
Don’t want to commit to the show? The lobby is also a fantastic place to get out of the midday sun.
The Mexico pavilion is always most always busy. It gets even busier as the night goes on as people have sadly discovered that it’s a great place to view Illuminations. You can seldom find a seat at La Catina de San Angel during meal times but grab a plate of nachos and a beer and head to the left of the giant pyramid towards the bathrooms (yes, the bathrooms). I find this to be a seldom crowded area to take a sit as most people will cruise right by as the restrooms are somewhat out of the way. Don’t worry – you won’t actually be eating your lunch in a stall – there’s a fairly large area to hang out at outside the facilities.
Universe of Energy
Ellen’s Energy Adventure weighs in as the longest place to cool off and relax at 45 minutes. If you are a light sleeper (I am not when I am at Disney, I find it easy to nod off pretty much anywhere) you may find yourself jerking awake during a few scenes. The Big Bang was not a quiet affair! However, it’s a solid place to both cool off and chill out.
The Seas with Nemo & Friends
The ride is not that relaxing and the exhibit as a whole can be really crowded at times, but the area outside this attraction is a great place to sit for a spell. There’s a lovely corner to the right of the exhibit that I find to be rarely occupied, making it a good place to park the stroller and put your feet up. Grab some popcorn and a soda and enjoy a few quiet moments outside before taking the plunge with Nemo.
